July 2024 Update: We are steadily making progress with the last administrative step being signing a lease from the Dept. of Natural Resources for the 10 acres of land under the water where the farm will be located.

Good for the Puget Sound

Kelp is a giver, not a taker. It requires no inputs to grow….no fresh water, no fertilizers, no pesticides… just sunshine and saltwater. Seaweeds pull nitrogen out of the water and take in nutrients helping to improve water quality. They also absorb phosphorous and give off oxygen, creating a “halo” effect around the farm that benefits other marine species.

Good for the People

Sugar kelp is packed full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Kelp is one of the most nutrient rich vegetables on the planet and provides our bodies with a large array of health benefits.

Location

Pacific Sea Farms’ first location will be off the southwest shore of Vashon Island, near Seattle, Washington. Our vertical farm will sustainably kelp, oysters, and other shellfish.
